My Qualifications

I attended the University of North Dakota Medical School for two years then transferred to Washington University in St. Louis where I received my medical degree. I completed my residency with Fairview-University Medical Center in Minneapolis. My Rheumatology fellowship was completed with the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. I am board certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1990.

I received the Ellis Dresner Award for laboratory research and am a fellow member of the American College of Rheumatology. I am also a volunteer Clinical Faculty member at UC Davis Medical School.

My Healthcare Practice

As a rheumatologist, my objective is to work with my patients toward the common goal of improving their health. I chose this specific field of medicine because it offers the chance to improve the lives of people with chronic illness. Arthritis treatment is advancing rapidly, making this an exciting field of medicine. Besides English, I also speak marginal Spanish.

Receiving Your Healthcare From Kaiser Permanente

Working for Kaiser Permanente allows me to focus on patient care rather than administrative details. It also provides easy access to high quality physicians in all areas of medicine.

My Outside Interests

I have a daughter who is involved in jazz dance. When I’m not working I enjoy outdoor sports like skiing, mountain climbing, golf, bicycling, and windsurfing. I also like working on my photography, reading, and travel.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
