About Me

I am a native Californian, born in San Mateo CA in 1947 and raised in Northern California (Clear Lake County through the 5th grade), moving to the Bay Area and where I lived with my parents and 5 siblings in Menlo Park through High School. I come from a large family and we are still close. I value family and community and believe we do best when we act from the premise that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. I approach the treatment of alcohol and drug dependence from a systems perspective, and approach recovery through the lenses of physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual health as the remedy of achieving stable and comfortable recovery.

I have been working in the field of chemical dependency for the past 24 years beginning with a volunteer position for 2 years at Janus of Santa Cruz from 1985-1987. I returned to school and completed a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1990. For the past 19 years, I have been employed in hospital based alcohol and drug treatment programs: O’Connor Hospital in San Jose, CA 1990 – 1997; Saint Helena Hospital near Calistoga, CA 1997-1998; and with Kaiser CDRP in Santa Clara beginning in November 1998 to present.

I want to extend a special thanks to the supervisor of our group of ASW interns, Ms. Carol Polk, LCSW who prepared us with weekly individual and group supervision for 2 years resulting in completeting the requisite hours to sit for the LCSW (written and oral exams). It is a testament to the dedication of Kaiser’s Management Team that all of us are now licensed as Clinical Social Workers.

I appreciate working at Kaiser and being a part of a qualified and professional treatment team who bring many years of experience working with individuals and families needing help with chemical dependency treatment.

On a more personal level, I enjoy spending time sharing food and stimulating conversation with extended family who live in the bay area. I also have family who operate a great Italian Restaurant in Sonoma, CA and whom I see regularly on days away from work. I also enjoy spending time with friends; preparing and eating healthy meals; reading (favorites are history, biography, and politics); playing chess; listening to music; going to movies; love virtually all the numerous ethnic cuisines available in Santa Clara County and enjoy going out with a small group of friends to explore new restaurants.

I look forward to talking with you or meeting with you should you have any questions regarding the services available at our clinic. We are located at 19000 Homestead Road (Bldg. 1) on the North Tantau entrance, two blocks from the new Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara on Lawrence Expressway.

My office hours are:

Tuesday 8:00am-6:00pm; Wednesday 8:00am-6:30pm

Friday 8:00am-4:30pm; Saturday 8:00am-2:30pm
