WELCOME TO MY HOMEPAGE!

About me…
“He looks like he’s twelve.” Is a common muttering whenever I am introduced anywhere. While I do frequently wish I was younger so I could undo many past life mistakes, I am not a “Dougie Hauser” type of doctor. I’m simply not that smart.

I grew up in a medical family, with a father who was a professor of pediatrics at UCLA and a mother who was a biochemist and a nurse. We later moved to Bakersfield (the All American City and home of the National Drag Boat racing championships) and I enjoyed growing up there. I studied in the catholic school system and ran track, making the national finals in my event. Later, I enthusiastically matriculated at Stanford University. While developing my interest in the medical sciences at Stanford, I grew to love the Bay area and have made this my home for close to 20 years now. I did my medical training at the University of California, San Francisco, followed by residency at Stanford, and then a fellowship in Spine Surgery at UCLA.

My Credentials

Medical school UC San Francisco, San Francisco, CA
Residency Stanford University, Stanford, CA
Fellowship UC Los Angeles Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA
Board certification Orthopedic Surgery, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
