I am an native of the Bay Area. I received my Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of California at Davis in 1974. Upon graduation I worked in research as a biochemist at a large pharmaceutical company for 6 years working on drug development for asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. I loved my work, but missed working with people. I decided to return to school to pursue a Masters degree in Physical Therapy and graduated from Stanford University in 1982 with a Masters of Arts degree.

Since graduating I have worked for Kaiser permanente, first in Hayward, then for the last 18 years in Redwood City. I love working for Kaiser Permanente because of the organizations commitment to excellence and innovation.

I have taken many continuing education classes in a variety of areas over the years. I am currently particularly interested in movement impairment syndromes and muscle imbalances. I believe physical exercise is paramount in rehabilitation and I encourage our members to be proactive in their care.

Outside of work, I like to spent time with my 2 yellow labs, Percy and Cammie. I love hiking, skiing and swimming. I also enjoy garment design, knitting and needle point. Over the last 6 years I have been a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
