About Me
As a high school kid in Madras, India, I was very curious about the intricate mechanisms of living creatures and loved to read about the history of medicine. I decided to become a physician and attended Kilpauk Medical College in Madras Tamilnadu, India. I had a great time learning the different basic and clinical sciences, from dissecting in Anatomy to examining pathological specimens and listening to cardiac murmurs. I wanted to pursue further clinical training in the U.S. where medicine and technology are further advanced. During my residency training in Internal Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center, I developed an interest in Hospital Medicine. I completed my internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. I decided to work at Kaiser Permanente instead of a small private group. I wanted to deliver appropriate and timely patient care without interference from individual insurance companies. While I deliver all aspects of hospital care, I have special interests in geriatric and critical care patients. It gives me a great sense of satisfaction to help these patients. I love working with my colleagues, all of whom are very friendly and helpful.
In the future, I would like to volunteer my time and medical skills to the less fortunate people in India. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the specialty of Internal Medicine. In addition to English, I speak Tamil.
When I am not at work, I am usually spending time with my husband and kids. We enjoy evening walks in the neighborhood, hiking, bicycling and skiing.
Philosophy of Care...
I believe that our health is our most valuable asset. A healthy diet and regular physical activity should be an integral part of our everyday life. Participating in community activities and volunteering are great ways to enhance our physical and mental wellbeing.
