Thanks very much for looking at my Home Page.

I’ve been in pediatric practice since 2002, following my years of training in Los Angeles and medical school in Boston, Massachusetts. Since arriving at Kaiser Permanente in Walnut Creek, I’ve been dividing my time practicing both pediatrics and adolescent medicine in our Teen Clinic.

I grew up in Orange County, California, and left home to attend college at the University of California, Berkeley, where I graduated with a degree in molecular biology. I took a year off after college and enjoyed some time traveling, after which I returned to school at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. I chose pediatrics because I enjoy the art and science of children’s medicine. I find it both challenging and rewarding to help kids and their families. I chose Kaiser Permanente because there is no better place to practice my craft. I have fantastic resources, and diverse, smart colleagues to draw from and share with my patients and families.

In my practice of medicine, I like to work with families and involve them in decisions about how to help their children grow up healthy. In doing so, I attempt to give them the best evidence-based options of care and try to educate them. I have two strong beliefs in my philosophy of medicine: First, I urge all my patients to be routinely immunized, as I strongly believe that the benefits of vaccines far outweigh their risks. Second, I am judicious in my use of antibiotics and other medicines, and prefer only to prescribe these medications when they are necessary.

21st Century Medicine

It’s my main goal to provide you and your children with high quality care. In the 21st Century, that means more than just making appointments or picking up the phone to reach me. As a member of my practice, you have many more choices:

  • Secure Email - By creating an account at kp.org, you can add your child to your account and email me your health questions and concerns, as well as pictures. You can also make appointments, request medication refills, and view your child’s immunization records online with this feature.

  • Life Stage Newsletters - From birth to adolescence, you can sign up to receive regular newsletters about your child’s health, featuring accurate, up to date information with links to videos, photos, and more.

  • This Home Page: Take a moment to explore all my Home Page has to offer—not just health information you can read, but also videos, podcasts, and more.

  • My free parents’ group at Twitter.com : To reach out to you and other parents in my practice, I have created a blog on the website Twitter where I provide you with news and tips about children’s health.

I strongly urge you to take advantage of all of these features to
make getting your care as convenient as possible.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
