About Me

Welcome to my Internet home page. This site will provide you with needed information about common medicine disorders like diabetes and asthma. Please feel free to check it out by double clicking on the hyperlinks. You can also use this site to refill prescriptions, or request an appointment with your primary care doctor.

I chose medicine as a career because not only does it give me an opportunity to meet with interesting people, but also help keep them healthy so that they can keep on enjoying the gift of life for years to come.

About me, I grew up in Punjab province in India. After finishing my medicine training, I immigrated to the United States to gain more experience and practice cutting edge medicine, and I have not been disappointed. I finished my medicine residency in 1997 and served as clinical instructor of medicine for one year.

I was drawn to Northern California for its climate, multiethnic culture, good people, and good food. Fortunately, I also found the right place to practice medicine.

I chose Kaiser Permanente to practice medicine after looking into various practices around this area. I have been with this group for six years. The system provides me with enough tools and resources to take care of my patients in a timely fashion. It also provides me with an atmosphere to practice evidence based medicine without the approval of any higher authority. I am proud to be a part of the best health care organization in California.

In addition to Hospital medicine, I have a special interest in pain and palliative care medicine. I am a member of American College of Physicians and California Medical Association.

I am married and have two beautiful kids. My wife is also a part of this health care team at Oakland Kaiser Permanente. We enjoy traveling with our kids. My personal interests include tennis, reading, gardening, cycling, and cooking.

I am a strong believer of preventive care and try to preach and practice evidence based medicine. I also believe that we should keep our patients well informed so that they can actively participate in their care.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
