Welcome to my home page. My name is Oscar C. Galan Jr. and I am a member of the Kaiser Permanente Stockton facility. Unlike most doctors, I do not have an office at the Stockton clinic. Here at Kaiser Permanente, my role is that of a hospitalist at Dameron Hospital.
A hospitalist is a physician whose primary focus is in the care of hospitalized patients. If you or your loved one is to be admitted into Dameron hospital, your primary physician will not be seeing you during your stay. You will however be seen by our medical team in Dameron. Currently, we are a group of eight Internal Medicine physicians.
Confinement in the hospital is not usually a pleasant experience for the patients as well as for the family. When a stranger comes to assume the care for your loved ones or yourself, it can be even more disconcerting. Through this medium, I hope that you can get more acquainted with me and have a little solace in your hospital stay.
Since my father is a military serviceman, I traveled from one place to another. I was born in San Diego, California, however, I grew up in various military installations both here in the United States and overseas. I graduated from high school in Subi Bay, Philippines, when it was still a United States naval station. From there I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine and continued my education in the Philippines.
I graduated from medical school in 1997 from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Metro Manila, Philippines. Afterwards, I completed my Internal Medicine residency at the Atlantic City Medical Center, Atlantic City, NJ. I joined Kaiser Permanente and moved to Stockton. Here in Stockton, I currently live with my wife and two children. My hobbies include reading, playing tennis, and playing with my children. My medical interest includes general medicine.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
