About me...
I am originally from the Bay Area but received a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from Miami University of Ohio. I enjoyed my experience in the Midwest but wanted to return to California and work in health care. After exploring many options I found Genetic Counseling, which felt to me like a great combination of counseling, health care, biology, and teaching. I went on to earn a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of California at Berkeley, where I concentrated on the psychosocial aspects of genetic counseling.
Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 1997, I provided genetic counseling at the Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Clinic at Children's Hospital in Oakland. I continue to be interested in hemoglobin diseases, such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia, and enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Here at Kaiser Permanente I work providing prenatal, pediatric, adult and cancer genetic counseling. I also participate in the Regional Multidisciplinary Hematology Clinic at Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara. I love my work and feel that Kaiser Permanente provides a unique opportunity to provide integrated health care.
To relax, I enjoy the outdoors by hiking or bicycling. I also enjoy cooking and traveling. After living in Italy for two years, I try to maintain my language skills by regularly studying Italian.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
