“No, I’m not related to any of the other Dr. Yee’s in Sacramento,” is my well-worn response to a question that patients often ask me. Their query tells me that the other Dr. Yee’s in the area have been wonderful doctors, that they hope for the same from me, and they would like to know a little more about me.

I grew up in Hawaii, left for school, and enjoyed living in many different locales on the mainland during college and professional training. During that sojourn, I polished the pidgin and lost some of the fluency in Hoi Sanese (rural Chinese dialect commonly spoken by older immigrants) that I had acquired speaking with my dear mother.

My Years as a Medical Student and My Fellowship Training

My Decision to Join Kaiser Permanente

My practice is currently concentrated in pulmonary and critical care medicine. I am a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians, both of which promote excellence in practice through continuing education in these two areas.

I have provided links to information that is helpful in understanding different types of lung diseases better.

Outside Interests

When I can break away from my packed schedule, I like to fly fish for trout or, together with my family, explore the Main Streets, side streets, and local museums of small towns outside of California to get a feel for other regions and cultures.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
