Welcome!

Let me start off by telling you about myself. I was born in San Jose and grew up in the Bay Area until I moved to the East Coast as a teenager. During my undergraduate training at Georgia Tech I had the opportunity to become involved with a biomedical research project. With this came my first encounter with patients in a healthcare setting; an enlightening experience which formed my drive for pursuing a career in medicine. After completing medical school I attended residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois - Chicago. I then became a Hospitalist and clinical instructor at the Emory University School of Medicine where I practiced until joining Kaiser in 2008. I enjoy spending time with family, playing sports, hiking, skiing, and doing just about anything outdoors when I am not practicing medicine. One of my favorite pastimes of course is rooting for the Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech.

As a Hospitalist at Kaiser Permanente I take care of patients that are admitted to the hospital for an acute illness. My goal as your Healthcare Partner is to provide you with the support and care necessary to help you through your hospital stay and maximally benefit from it. Specializing in inpatient care allows me to focus my efforts and stay up to date on the latest innovations and changes taking place in the care of patients in the hospital setting. It also empowers me to be readily available to answer questions, keep you updated on your care, and make sure we are always addressing your needs.

I joined Kaiser Permanente because I believe in the concept of offering total care to our patients. I believe that preventative and outpatient care are just as important as the treatment of an acute illness for long term well-being. As a hospitalist at Kaiser I am able to work very closely with your outpatient physician to ensure overall quality of care in the hospital and when you leave. Working at Kaiser also allows me to focus more on patient care rather than the business aspect of running a practice.

To your left you will find some helpful links for obtaining more information and services to assist you in leading a healthy lifestyle. I encourage you to look thru these links as they may be able to answer many of your questions regarding basic diseases, medications, and what to expect after discharge from the hospital.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
