Why I Became a Physician

My path toward becoming a physician was a little circuitous. I always gravitated toward sciences during my education. I worked my way through college as an emergency medical technician (EMT) with a local ambulance service. During my graduate work, I realized that I enjoyed direct patient care much more than research.

Why I Chose My Specialty

Emergency medicine is the natural progression from my experience with the emergency medical system. I relish the opportunity to treat acute, even life-threatening problems.

What I Like about Kaiser Permanente

Because Kaiser Permanente is a completely integrated health care system, it allows me to work closely with colleagues of various specialties to provide the best care for each patient.

My Philosophy on Healing

I believe that healthy people tend to stay healthy, and that health maintenance and disease prevention are of paramount importance. My role in the emergency department is to provide the body with assistance in recovering from acute illness.

Other Personal Interests

I enjoy biking, hiking, SCUBA diving, and spending time with my family.

My Credentials

Medical school College of Osteopathic Medicine of The Pacific, Pomona, CA
Internship Oakland General Hospital, Madision Heights, MI
Residency Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI
Board certification Emergency Medicine, American Board of Emergency Medicine

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
