About Me and My Work:

I grew up in a very socially active family in India. I have always wanted to work with people. I graduated from Karnatak University Dharwad Medical College in 1989. Early on I worked as a Surgeon as I could achieve a cure which was very satisfying but I lost touch with my patients after. I moved to the United States and found an opportunity to change my field from Surgery to being an Internist. I completed my residency training at Finch University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. I completed a fellowship at Stanford University Hospital. I am board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

As I did my Residency in Internal Medicine in Chicago, I met people from various walks of life – from the homeless to the veterans of war from WWI to the new immigrants. I spent a lot of time talking to them and learning about their life and achievements. It would be as simple as finding the right shelter for their kids or raising them clean to educating them through college or getting a Purple Heart from the President it was always nice to know them as the people they were. It also seemed at that point that most of the patients were looking for more comforting treatments rather than being able to achieve a Cure at all costs.

It is always fascinating to read the evolution of Medicine through historical times. I believe in Medicine being a great art and an equally great science, which needs to be applied together in the right proportion to make a difference in life. The day to day juggling with these proportions to achieve satisfied care for my patients provides a sense of accomplishment. Everyday is a new day and every patient is a new life I have learned to value.

I respect and cherish the trust the patient places in me and will always strive to provide the best care possible to each and every one of them. I work in the Nursing Homes and Skilled Nursing Facilities. It is always special each time and every time when I see a satisfied smile leave to go back to their home with their loved one.

I have been working with Kaiser Permanente since 2002 and find it very rewarding due to the wonderfully integrated work environment, with easy and quick access to specialties. This ensures that the care for my patient, is not only coordinated, but also timed appropriate. This is satisfying for both my patients and me as a caring Physician.

Working for the Department of Continuing Care we strive to ensure there is always a smooth flow of care from various care settings.
