Welcome
I am a pathologist which is study of diseases. I got interested in this subject because it is a study and understanding of pathogenesis of disease process that inflict all the systems and parts of human body and not just one system. My clinical interests include surgical pathology and cytopathology. Pathology is relevant to all the aspects of medicine. In clinical part all the blood work and other laboratory work is done and in anatomic pathology all the biopsies are processed and analyzed.
I am one of the five pathologists in Kaiser Permanente San Jose. This is the bulk of my work. As a pathologist I help and sometimes guide the practicing physician, whether an internist or a surgeon, with the diagnosis and hence treatment. I work closely as an associate with your clinician and help him give you the best treatment available.
I am proud to be part the medical group of Kaiser Permanente. I believe you can get the best comprehensive healthcare possible in this system.
My Background
I was born and raised in New Delhi, India. I received my undergraduate studies from Delhi University. I earned my M.D from University of Delhi Lady Hardinge School of Medicine, New Delhi, India in 1980. I did residency in pathology at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, continued at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital, Johnstown, PA and completed at Lankenau Hospital, Wynnewood, PA . At Lankenau Hospital I was also the chief resident in my last year of residency. This was followed by fellowship in cytopathology from Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania C/o Univ of Pennsylvania Health System, Philadelphia. I was an assistant professor of pathology at UCLA-Harbor Medical Center for a year following which I went into private practice in Oakland, California. I spent 6 years as director of a private laboratory. I have been at Kaiser since 1999 and I feel privileged to be working here. I am a Diplomat both in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. I am a Fellow of College of American Pathology, Member of the South bay Pathologist Society, the Santa Clara County Medical Society, and The California Society of Pathologists.
About Me
My personal interests include reading, music, travel, and outdoor activities like hiking and horse back riding whenever it is possible. In my spare time I like to spend time with my husband and two daughters Nidhi and Neyha. My other main interest is social work. For me giving back to the community to uplift a fellow being is the epitome of good social work. It is selfless and gives one a sense of utmost gratification. At present I am involved in a charity that helps young and destitute children in India. I am trying to instill the same values in my children besides self empowerment.
Philosophy of Practice
My philosophy of practice is to respect every patient and to give their specimens the utmost care. I use my acumen to the best of my knowledge. I believe honesty and integrity should be paramount virtues of my practice.
