My Biography

I came to Kaiser Permanente because I wanted to work in internal medicine. I completed a year of residency here so that the Chief of Medicine could recommend me for boards. I like Kaiser Permanente’s practice philosophy and the fact that I don’t need to concern myself with business affairs or the patient’s ability to pay. Within the Kaiser Permanente system, I am relatively free to practice medicine the way it should be practiced.

Kaiser Permanente provides unquestionable support for a preventive care emphasis. We have a pretty strong primary care department that looks at the patient as a whole person. Medical care here is less fragmented than it is in other parts of the country. My area of special focus is cardiac testing, part of internal medicine, a field in which I practiced for many years,

Outside of work, I stay active by swimming, running on a treadmill, lifting weights, and playing basketball on Sundays (that’s right—even at my age!). I have recently traveled to England, Hong Kong, and China. My children are almost fully grown now. One has just completed school in England.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
