Welcome to my homepage!

As a nuclear medicine physician, I am responsible for reading diagnostic nuclear scans, treating hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer (post-thyroidectomy), administering palliative therapy for bone pain, supervising the administration of radiopharmaceuticals, and ensuring radiation safety. Although I am not directly involved in patient care, my nuclear medicine studies significantly impact the care of patients and sometimes even change the course of patient management or treatment. Therefore, I take great responsibility and care when interpreting diagnostic scans and determining nuclear medicine treatments.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2007, after successfully completing a Nuclear Medicine Residency in UCSF. Prior to my residency training, I attended and graduated from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in New York (SUNY) with a MD degree. My medical training and my work at Kaiser Permanente have given me many wonderful opportunities to succeed in life and to help others at the same time. I am grateful for these opportunities, and I take great pride in my department and my job.

None of this would have been possible if my family had not immigrated to the United States in 1990. I came to this country from Burma (Myanmar) at the tender and confusing age of 13. I struggled at first, but I adapted to the American culture and language fairly quickly. I now consider myself an American, and I love this country for its embracement of democracy and individual liberty.

Growing up in Rangoon, Burma, and New York taught me to appreciate many diverse cultures and ethnic foods. I enjoy interacting with people of different cultures, and working at Kaiser Richmond and Oakland has given me ample opportunities to do so.

I speak Burmese and English fluently. In my free time, I relax by reading, watching television, and staying active by working out, swimming, golfing, and dancing.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
