About Me

My name is Maria Ramirez and I am a Hospital Based Specialist at the Kaiser Medical Center in San Jose California. As your doctor, during your stay in the hospital, I will be learning many things about you. This is your opportunity to learn something about me. I became a physician because I enjoy helping people and the practice of medicine allows me to provide a highly personal and important kind of service to people. Hospital medicine is an exciting specialty that allows me to take care of some of the sickest patients. I always feel a deep satisfaction when they get better.

I believe that people are individuals with unique needs. A patient is, and should always be treated as, a person first. I have come to appreciate the Kaiser Permanente system as I know you do too. Kaiser Permanente is an integrated model for health care that is constantly on the forefront of breakthrough strategies for delivering the highest quality care to its members. I appreciate being a part of an organization that has earned high praise through many independent assessments here, in The United States, and internationally.

When I am not working, I like to relax and spend time with my family. I like to read and to push myself to learn something new everyday.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
