Welcome to my Web Page!
I attended Samuel Merritt College for my Physician Assistant training and graduated in 2001. Immediately after that I joined the Permanente Medical Group and have been a member of the GSAA Surgery Department since 2002.
I was born and raised in Berkeley, California, and graduated from University of California Berkeley in 1993. After that, worked towards my Masters in Public Health, and received my MPH degree in 1996. My parents still live in Berkeley.
I especially enjoy traveling as a special interest. Who wouldn't?
I am looking forward to meeting you.
What is a Physician Assistant (PA)?
A Physician Assistant (PA) is a health care professional licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. After graduating from an accredited program, a PA must pass a national certification examination developed by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants in conjunction with the National Board of Medical Examiners. National certification is maintained by completing 100 hours of continuing medical education every 2 years and passing a recertification examination every 6 years. What a physician assistant does varies with training, experience, and state law.
In the Hayward Kaiser Surgery Department PAs work closely with the surgeons both assisting in the operating room and performing clinic and hospital duties. Their clinic responsibilities include pre-operative examinations; obtaining consents for surgery; post-operative wound evaluation and care; performing minor procedures; and pre-operative and post-operative care teaching.
Physician Assistants evaluate patients throughout the hospital before and after surgery. They order labs, medications, therapy, x-rays and other studies as needed and discuss each patient’s status and treatment plan with the patient’s surgeon.
Physician Assistants are an instrumental part of your surgical team.
