Welcome to My Home Page

I am one of the hospital-based physicians who works in the Turlock / Modesto area. I was born and raised in Mandalay, Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). I graduated from University of Mandalay School of Medicine, Mandalay in 1980 and completed my internship in 1981. I was in private practice for one year before working as a civil assistant surgeon in a township civil hospital. My responsibilities include practicing a wide range of general medicine, performing minor and emergency surgeries, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology. I also was involved in field trips to small villages where my group offered free medical treatment and vaccinations.

I was married to one of my classmates and we have a son who is now a sophomore studying bioengineering at college. After working for seven years as a civil assistant surgeon, I left Burma and migrated to Australia with my family. Then I subsequently migrated to the United States of America to join my mother as well as other family. I went through the arduous licensing process and completed my internal medicine residency training at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, OH. I served as a house physician at Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio, and Mt. Sinai Medical Center East in Richmond Heights, Ohio.

I joined The Permanente Medical Group in August of 2000. I am proud to be one of the first three hospitalists of our group which has now grow to over 20 physicians. Together, we have came across and adjusted to several changes in our department and solved many problems as a team. I enjoy having the opportunity to shape the working condition as the department grows. As a Kaiser Permanente physician, I feel secure in my position knowing that I have back-up physicians whom I can rely on and other well-organized supportive teams.

I am satisfied being a hospitalist because of my clinical interest in solving acute medical problems and the opportunity it gives me to see a wide variety of medical diseases. I am privileged to work closely with sub-specialists in seeing and treating difficult medical entities. I am particularly interested in infectious diseases and geriatric medicine.

I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading books, and watching my favorite show, Law & Order, during my spare time.

Practice Philosophy

“We have to ask ourselves whether medicine is to remain a humanitarian and respected profession or a new, but depersonalized science in the service of prolonging life rather than diminishing human suffering” – Elisabeth KüBler Ross

Listening is important in solving problems, but sincerity is the key to achieving trust.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
