Welcome to my home page. My name is Mark Noguchi and I am a nurse anesthetist, also known as a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist). CRNAs are advanced practice nurses with specialized graduate level education in anesthesiology. I have been practicing anesthesia for more than 20 years with a background in respiratory therapy and intensive care nursing. I grew up in Marin County and love practicing in Terra Linda, the community where I live. You can learn more about the practice of nurse anesthetists by checking out the links to the left under American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Nurse anesthetists have a history of providing anesthesia for more than 100 years. Most Kaiser nurse anesthetists practice in a team setting where physician anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists work together to provide outstanding anesthesia care. I believe the care you receive in San Rafael will be excellent.

I am pleased to offer this web site as a means to provide helpful medical information for my patients, as well as an opportunity for you to learn more about me. I hope that through this medium I will be able to better serve you with the most current information, useful handouts, and helpful web links.

Raised a Buddhist, it is also very natural for me to say that I enjoy meditation practice and feel that this helps me to be mindful and present when I am providing anesthesia to my patients.

Aside from this clinical practice I have had a strong interest in education and was faculty for the graduate program for nurse anesthetists at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland for ten years. I have done several medical missions overseas, and have been active on my national and state anesthesia associations.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
