About Me

I came to America in 1973 after I completed my medical degree at the National Taiwan University. I moved to California upon finishing my residency at the University of Chicago, soon after which I joined The Permanente Medical Group at Kaiser in Oakland in 1980. I am now a senior physician in the Department of Anesthesiology with over 25 years of experience in general anesthesiology. The field of anesthesiology is a wonderful and exciting combination of physiology, pharmacology, dynamic patient care, technological innovation, and is a continually evolving field.

I am proud to have witnessed Kaiser grow into a national role model for health care delivery over the past few decades. Its success is the result of a health care philosophy that includes preventive medicine which I believe is critical to the health of our communities. Kaiser’s work environment also helps its physicians give their best. I personally enjoy practicing with Kaiser because of its cooperative, multi-cultural, team-oriented environment. I also appreciate my opportunities to update my own medical knowledge in the rapidly changing field of anesthesiology so that I can offer the latest medical techniques. I think Kaiser’s approach to both its patients and its physicians have made it both a successful organization and an enjoyable workplace.

Kaiser’s work with the Bay Area’s multicultural communities is also a very exciting and rewarding aspect of my job. I’m happy that my Chinese background has helped me in communicating with and serving our patients.
