I joined Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City in August 2009. Prior to this I practiced as both inpatient and outpatient internist in New York and Santa Barbara. There, my primary focus was seeing patients at an outpatient tertiary care center with multiple specialists and providing diagnoses and recommending treatments that patients could subsequently take back to their local physicians and discuss or return for further care. This similarity is only one of the reasons I chose to join the Permanente Medical Group; more crucial to me was the camaraderie among medical providers with whom I met at the neuroscience center.

My practice philosophy is probably not much different from other physicians, but here are a few keypoints I consider to be significant as an internist. I take pride in educating and communicating with patients to encourage involvement in medical decision making,to ensure self-responsibility, and to improve compliance. I also emphasize disease prevention while limiting the prescription of multiple medications and unnecessary tests whenever possible. I strive to treat not each diagnosis separately in a patient, but the patient as a whole especially discussing the importance of mind-body connection.

When not taking care of our members all my time, spare or not, is spent with my babies. I enjoy jogging and hiking
