About Me

I attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where I graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. During my junior year in college, I studied in Valencia, Spain, in an attempt to become fluent in Spanish. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. I completed my predoctoral internship at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo - Counseling and Psychological Services Center. I relocated to San Jose in 1998 to complete my postgraduate training at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center. I was then hired on as a Health Psychologist and I have worked here ever since.

I specialize in helping people cope with chronic medical conditions, as well as in treating the depression and anxiety that often accompany these illnesses. I currently provide individual and/or group treatment within the following multidisciplinary programs: Diabetes Care Management, MultiFit Care Management, Heart Failure Care Management and Neurology Group Program. At Kaiser Permanente San Jose, I have also worked in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Primary Care, and Behavioral Medicine. Within Behavioral Medicine, I've often worked with individuals with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Cardiomyopathy, Congestive Heart Failure, End-stage Kidney Disease and Asthma, as well as other stress-related physical conditions.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking along the beach, keeping in touch with family and friends on the East Coast, sampling different ethnic cuisine, traveling, and singing.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
