My Biography

One of the reasons I came to Kaiser Permanente San Francisco was that I wanted to work in a cosmopolitan city with a highly diverse population. Kaiser’s comprehensive health care model approaches my vision of how I want to practice medicine. Kaiser also offers a tremendous teaching aspect and preventive emphasis that I found attractive.

Kaiser’s care model means that providers work in concert with one another, as part of a collaborative team, and not in isolation. All of the providers on a patient’s care team have access to the patient’s complete medical history, and the advent of Health Connect has only facilitated this collaboration. Health Connect is Kaiser’s cutting-edge electronic medical charting tool; it supersedes the old paper chart system.

I have particular interests in issues that concern proving the standards of urogynecologic care. To that end, I am part of the Systematic Review Group, a task force created by the Society of Gynecological Surgeons. Our goal is to set up health provision guidelines at the national level. I would like to emphasize to patients that help is available for both urinary and anal incontinence, and for prolapse.

In my free time, I enjoy camping, rock climbing, and mountain biking. I have also pursued my interests in international medicine. I have engaged in several medical missions in Guatemala, and hope to do further missions in the future. I am an avid runner and belong to several running groups. I have completed a number of half-marathons. I look forward to welcoming you to the San Francisco Medical Center.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
