My Biography

I am originally from Cleveland, but I love the Bay Area. It offers a wonderful climate, is close to the outdoors, and I completed my residency here. At Oakland Medical Center, our patients receive top-notch care in an integrated fashion. Clinicians are able to focus 100% on the patient, without worrying about recruiting patients or attending to billing issues. We try to keep our people healthy. I like to say that Kaiser Permanente’s health care model is a health plan, not just a “sick plan.”

The facet of my practice that I enjoy the most is providing treatments to cancer patients, especially treatments that were not available or possible in prior years. I feel that I can really make a difference in peoples’ lives, and I love working in such an intellectually-stimulating environment.

Our department sees many interesting cases. Whenever possible, I use the latest technology in my treatment plans, and use minimally-invasive procedures. Although I have a broad and varied background in Radiology, I maintain special interests in interventional radiology and interventional oncology. I attend the World Conference on Interventional Oncology on a regular basis.

Outside of work, I enjoy attending concerts, listening to music, and getting together with friends. I go to the gym a few times per week, and I also windsurf, hike, swim, and I’ve just begun doing yoga. I like shopping at farmers’ markets and I do try to eat healthy.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
