About Me

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1994, when I began at the Napa Clinic. My interest in hospital work led me to help develop our inpatient program, which started in 1996 at the Vallejo hospital. I have been with the Department of Hospital Medicine ever since and am currently the chief of the department.

My interest in working with people and the ability to impact medical problems led me to a career in medicine. While health maintenance and preventive health are the mainstays of a healthy life, the treatment of acute disease has been the focus of my professional life. My department generally sees people who are ill, and it is very satisfying to bring patients through the process of their illness. Hospital care today is truly a collaborative effort of many disciplines that come together with a common goal: improving your health.

Kaiser Permanente has a unique structure whereby physicians practice quality medicine with minimal restraints. I enjoy working with our patient population as well as our colleagues. We have a well-balanced medical staff as well as an outstanding nursing and ancillary staff that I am proud to work with every day.

My outside interests include spending time with my wife and daughter, running, biking, hiking, & travel.
