ABOUT ME
I spent most of my formative years in St. Louis, Missouri, where I attended Southwest High School and University of Missouri of Missouri-St. Louis. My first exposure to medicine came during my undergraduate years, when I was employed as a clinical technician at Barnes Hospital. A part of my responsibilities entailed drawing blood from intensive care pediatric patients, the majority of whom were premature. My clinical encounters were pleasant and I began to give a serious consideration to pursuing a career in medicine. I graduated from medical school at Wayne State Univerisity in Detroit, Michigan in 1996 and completed both my internship and residency in internal medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Loma Linda, CA in 1999. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1999. I am a hospitalist, which means that my practice is based exclusively in the hospital setting and I do not have clinical encounters with patients in the clinc. I am one of several Kaiser Permanenete hospitalists at Dameron Hospital, where our responsibilities entail admitting patients to the hospitals, determining their diagnoses, and providing treatment. As an important part of ensuring continuity of care, all discharged patients are referred back to their primary physicians in the clinic for a follow-up. Because the information and data generated at Dameron Hospital is captured and stored in the Kaiser Permanente computer system, the primary physicians are well informed about the clinical encounters that occur at Dameron Hospital.
In my spare time I like to play tennis and racquetball.
PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
Despite the myriad revolutionary changes that have occurred in medicine over the past few years, the practice of medicine for me remains a noble and rewarding profession. I truly enjoy the privileged encounters that I have with my patients and their families and I am pleased when I am able to contribute even in a small measure to the restoration of good health. I am deeply committed to delivering the highest level of standard of care to all of my patients. I strive to provide to patients the same level of care that I would want for myself and family.
