My Profession

I am a thoracic surgeon. This means I do operations for diseases in the chest, like lung cancer. I am good with my hands and I enjoy the opportunity to cure people of a dreaded disease.

My Credentials

Medical school UC Los Angeles, School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA
Internship University of Chicago Hospitals, Chicago, IL
Residency Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Sacramento, CA
Residency UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Residency University of Michigan Hospitals, Ann Arbor, MI
Residency UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Board certification Thoracic Surgery, American Board of Thoracic Surgery

My Practice Philosophy

I believe in being honest with my patients, helping them to understand the consequences and opportunities of their disease.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente for almost 30 years, first as a general surgery resident and then as a staff surgeon. As a resident in training, I learned the value of a collaborative group practice and decided to join the group, a decision I have never regretted. At the same time, I really value the availability of information I can get from my large group of colleagues.

Receiving Your Healthcare From Kaiser Permanente

One of the advantages of the Kaiser Permanente system is the multispecialty team approach. Physicians, medical assistants, nurses, and support staff all work in a team fashion to provide the best care for the patients. We have been using this multidisciplinary approach to cancers of the lung and esophagus, gradually improving survival in these dreaded diseases.

My Outside Interests

During my leisure time, I enjoy sailing and snow skiing.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
