Welcome to my Homepage

I joined Kaiser San Jose in early 2011 after working for many years at a small outpatient physical therapy practice in Los Gatos, CA. I’ve had the pleasure of working and training with some of the current leaders in orthopedic physical therapy and I’m excited to bring that experience here to Kaiser San Jose. I specialize in treating all orthopedic related injuries and I’m particularly interested in shoulder, elbow, hip and knee injuries; both surgical and non-surgical.

Background

August 2004: University of the Pacific, Doctorate of Physical Therapy
May 2004: University of the Pacific, Masters of Science in Physical Therapy
May 2002: California State University at Chico, Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology

Certifications

June 2007: Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the America Physical Therapy Association

March 2003: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association

Philosophy

My philosophy when working with patients is simple. I believe that educating patients about their injury is the most important factor in recovery. If a patient can understand why they are having symptoms and what needs to change to make the symptoms resolve, then I can empower them to start making conscious decisions during their day to help themselves get better. Knowledge is power and the more you can understand why something is happening, the less frustration and anxiety you will have about it, thus improving the rehab process. I also like to give my patients goals that they have to meet along the way during their rehabilitation so that they know they are making progress and meeting those established goals.

Personal Interests

I enjoy being outdoors and seeing nature up close. I love camping, backpacking, and cycling. I also enjoy gardening and cooking but most importantly I love spending quality time with my wife and my dog. I also just started fly fishing which I’m excited to learn more about.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
