My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am an emergency medicine physician. This means I evaluate and treat patients needing urgent and emergent care. I decided to do this because I love helping others and enjoy variety as I work.

My Practice Philosophy

I choose to practice medicine with every patient that I meet as if I were treating a family member. I want to not only address their immediate medical and surgical needs, but also help patients care for themselves and prevent future health issues.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I’ve been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2009. Since beginning, I’ve really come to appreciate the diverse group of emergency medicine physicians and specialists that I consider my partners. I also find great importance in Kaiser Permanente's strategy for member health maintenance.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I have the ability to develop my practice of medicine the way I want to. At the same time, I value the availability of information that I have access to because of my large group of colleagues. This ultimately helps me to better care for patients. I also chose Kaiser Permanente because of its educational opportunities, information technology, helpful staff, leadership by physicians and close cooperation among physicians.

On a Personal Note. . .

I grew up and completed my undergraduate education in Delaware. I then went to medical school and completed internship and emergency medicine residency in Philadelphia, PA. I made my way to northern California because of my love for the area, its climate and opportunities. When not at work, I enjoy tennis, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, traveling, eating and most outdoor activities in beautiful northern California.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
