Welcome to My Home Page!

My web page is designed to introduce me to my patients and their families, familiarize them with my clinic, and to provide them with several important links to get information about diabetes and a variety of endocrine disorders.

About Me:

I grew up in India and moved to the United States after finishing medical school. I did my internship and residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital in Los Angeles. Subsequently I went into a pediatric endocrinology fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. After finishing a fellowship in 1991, I practiced in a managed care group in Los Angeles until 2000. In November 2000 I joined Kaiser Permanente and moved to beautiful Northern California.

My Practice:

Growing up with a strong sense of service and desire to help others, medicine came as a natural choice to me. Love for children of all ages and a desire to be surrounded by them took me to pediatrics. Seeing their beautiful smiles, playfulness, resilience, and an amazing ability to cope with any kind of illness, has been very rewarding. Dealing with children keeps the little kid alive in me.

During my pediatric residency I had special interest in growth and development, hormones, and how health problems arise from hormonal imbalance. These interests led me to a pediatric endocrine fellowship. I am especially interested in diabetes, obesity, and thyroid and growth problems.

I am a member of the American Diabetes Association, the Endocrine Society, the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Society, and the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association.

Working for Kaiser:

I am proud to be a health care provider in the Kaiser Permanente system, where physicians are given the tools and freedom to provide excellent integrated health care. After all, Kaiser Permanente is recognized as providing some of the best health care in California.

Practice Philosophy:

Compassion is my foundation for taking care of my patients. My goal is to provide my patients and their families with comprehensive care and education to ensure the best possible management of their medical problems. I am a strong believer in patient’s becoming knowledgeable about their conditions and partnering with me in their medical decisions.

My office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. There are days when I am in offices other than Walnut Creek; during my absence there is a pediatric endocrinologist covering for me.

On a Personal Level:

I am married with two children. During my spare hours I love to spend time with my family. I enjoy reading, hiking, and traveling. Other than English, I am fluent in Hindi and have working knowledge of Spanish.

Please do visit my endocrine and diabetes links, which will give information about a variety of endocrine problems. I strongly encourage my patients to actively participate in their ongoing health care, preventive health care, immunizations, and well care visits.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
