My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I have a special interest in injuries involving the shoulder and knee. I enjoy working with athletes of all capabilities and ages. My belief is that activity and exercise are the fountains of youth and it is my goal to get you back to living your life to the fullest.

I completed a fellowship focusing on the latest techniques in arthroscopic / minimally invasive approaches to shoulder and knee problems. This extra year of intense training allowed to me learn from leaders in the field of sports medicine, teaching me valuable clinical and surgical skills. In doing so, I had the opportunity to care for The US National Women’s Soccer Team as well as two professional soccer teams, the LA Galaxy and Chivas USA. In addition, I was actively involved with caring for the students of Pepperdine University, two semi-pro soccer teams in Los Angeles, the professional cyclists during the Amgen Tour of California, as well as a number of the local high schools. This on the job training has enabled me to treat a wide spectrum of athletes from a child starting off in T-Ball to an elite level athlete.

My Practice Philosophy

My philosophy is simple. People deserve to be treated as if they were your loved one or family member. Each patient is experiencing a sometimes frightful and often times very new experience. It is my job to help them understand the issues, feel comfortable with their options, and guide them through the decision making process. Compassion, communication, and the ability to listen are things that I value greatly and work on daily to help me accomplish these goals.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I was hired in 2008 as a Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon with special training in Arthroscopy.

On a Personal Note

I am originally from San Diego, California where both of my parents still reside. I am very happily married to a beautiful and bright lawyer who practices probate litigation and estate planning. My personal interests include snow and water skiing, volleyball, running, cycling, surfing, scuba diving, and just about any other sport you can imagine.
