About Me

I chose physical therapy as a profession when I was a sophomore in high school. I always enjoyed exercise and fitness as well as the medical profession, so physical therapy was a perfect combination of those. Ironically enough, my older sister was a sophomore in college at the same time back in the 70s and she too decided to go into this wonderful profession. She paved the way for me and it was a piece of cake. I was the youngest in my class and we both attended UCSF (University of California, San Francisco) but four years apart.

I like the immense flexibility that I have as a physical therapist in the medical environment. There are so many specialty areas that challenge you as a professional, so there is no way of getting bored. I love the interaction, the contact, the involvement with the individual to make functional and useful changes in our clients’ lifestyle. Presently, my specialty involves orthopedic outpatient care so that involves the whole body! I enjoy the challenge of breaking bad habits and integrating better kinematic movements that promote better alignment with improved muscle function and efficiency. Preventing the body from going to the path of least resistance is my goal; I’m a true follower of Shirley Sarhmans, one of my many gurus of physical therapy.

I feel that Kaiser Permanente is a reliable organization. They are here to serve our community in the most cost effective means possible utilizing new technology to practice evidence-based medicine. Kaiser Permanente is also very research oriented and now that I am a seasoned therapist I have the potential to do more for my profession. Kaiser Permanente's network is vast and they have many departments to help you reach your goals. I am very appreciative of my peers who have seen me through thick and thin as we endure life's many challenges and especially for their clinical expertise.

My clinical interest focuses on fall prevention and preventing a forward head posture. I strongly feel that you need to start at the base of support and integrate your feet to your head. Good supportive shoes with proper alignment and strength will facilitate your core, and with proper training, good posture comes naturally if you can fight against the weight of the world.

I enjoy life! I am an avid gardener and maintain an antioxidant garden, carnivorous garden, bog garden, a collection of unique maple trees, rare and unique varieties of bamboo, and a soothing pond for well being. I love to exercise and I practice what I preach. I am now on a new passion with music and have just had my interest focused on Afro-Cuban music. Family has always been a focus of my time and it is my number one priority. I am also involved with a local church and teach Sunday School for the kindergarten level. I love the children and my goal is to make a difference in their lives.

I am bilingual and speak Spanish as my first language.

My Education and Credentials

Physical Therapy Education BS from University of California, San Fracisco

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
