Welcome to My Home Page!
As a Behavior Medicine Specialist at the Antioch Medical Center, Deer Valley Medical Office Building, I collaborate with Primary Care Physicians and other care providers to assist in your overall health. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and provide services to medical patients dealing with emotional/psychological issues related to medical problems, general stress, anxiety, depression, grief, emotional eating, domestic violence, and providing cognitive screening/testing for patients experiencing memory problems. I also function as a liaison between the Medicine Department and other departments, such as Psychiatry and Health Education, often making referrals to these departments as appropriate. Additionally, I enjoy leading a stress reduction exercise for headache patients in the department of Neurology.
In Behavioral Medicine I use the tools of active listening, empathy, and patient collaboration as a means of helping others deal with difficult problems. It is very satisfying to see the changes patients make after a few brief appointments.
I began working in the mental health field in 1995 as a group co-facilitator for at risk teens and a volunteer educator for Child Abuse Prevention. Since that time, I entered the Doctor of Psychology program at John F. Kennedy University in the fall of 1996 and was awarded my degree in 2005. My experience includes treating children, teens, and adults dealing with mood disorders, addictions, family violence, dual diagnosis, and behavioral changes. I especially like helping people to overcome emotional eating behaviors. My philosophy is to empower the patient to make changes that they desire.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
