Dr. Lillo was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised on the San Francisco Peninsula. He attended Stanford University from which he graduated with a BS degree in Mathematical Sciences. Dr. Lillo received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine where he graduated with High Honors, a distinction reserved for the top 1% of a graduating class. In addition, he received five other medical school awards and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Lillo completed his internship and residency at Stanford and then returned to Baylor College for a fellowship in infectious diseases.

Dr. Lillo's board test scores were among the top 10 in the nation. He has published several scientific papers in various infectious disease publications. Dr. Lillo has also received several awards including the Golden Apple Award for his excellence in teaching and the Subspecialty Teaching Award. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stanford University.

Since joining The Permanente Medical Group in 1988, Dr. Lillo has held a variety of administrative positions. Currently, he is Assistant Physician-In-Chief of the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center and Chairman of the Infection Control Committee. His past appointments include having served as the Chief of Internal Medicine, Sub-Chief of Infectious Diseases, Chairman of the Kaiser Northern California Infectious Diseases Chiefs Group, and Chairman of the Internal Medicine Quality Assurance Committee. He has also served as the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center representative at the Santa Clara County Medical Society.

Dr. Lillo's practice includes both internal medicine and infectious disease cases. His primary medical interests are in infectious diseases, vaccine programs, and infection control. He has also been very involved in the development of the Kaiser Northern California Region's strategy for improving the delivery of care in internal medicine.

Dr. Lillo is married and has three children. He enjoys his children's year round soccer activities and swimming. As a former Stanford Band member, he still enjoys playing the trumpet.
