Welcome to My Home Page

As your physician, I value my relationship with you. I know that maintaining a good relationship means being able to communicate with each other. My colleagues and I have developed home pages so that we can stay in touch more easily. Because the better connected we are, the healthier you are.

My Credentials

Medical school Oral Roberts University School of Medicine, Tulsa, OK
Residency Oral Roberts University School of Medicine, Tulsa, OK
Board certification Family Medicine, American Board of Family Medicine

My Background

I have practiced medicine as a missionary physician in Kenya (1987-1988) and Nigeria (1989-1994) and have been involved in the startup of numerous hospitals in Africa. With my wife, we formed a nonprofit organization to promote improving health care standards in underdeveloped areas of the world and encouraged North Americans to get involved in volunteer work. Short-term medical and construction teams have gone to Belize, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, India, Cambodia, Nigeria, Cote D'Ivore, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Cameroun, Niger, and Swaziland.

From 1995-2001 I worked with Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans while continuing to work part time overseas. My wife and I moved to Sacramento in 2011 to be closer to my wife's parents.

I enjoy the opportunity to work as a physician to be able to help promote health and to provide good treatment of both acute and chronic diseases. I have an interest in internal medicine as well as tropical and travel medicine.

On a Personal Note

My childhood was spent on our family grape and tomato farm in upstate New York. Through helping my parents in their commercial greenhouse, I have developed a love for plants and gardening and hope to develop a fabulous botanical garden and koi pond in Sacramento.

I am married to a wonderful woman and together we developed a nonprofit organization to increase access to health care in countries that are less privileged than ours. We build clinics and hospitals, procure and ship medical equipment and supplies, provide short-term relief teams and plan educational conferences to promote training for doctors and nurses overseas. We believe that social welfare does not start with the government but with each individual reaching out to those less fortunate, both here in the U.S. and abroad.

Hobbies & Interests

I am passionate about downhill skiing. Upon moving to Sacramento the first order of business was getting season passes to enjoy our proximity to the Sierras! I also enjoy fishing, bicycling, and playing the piano.

After living in New Orleans for 16 years I learned to enjoy cooking and eating great Creole food! My wife and I also took up restoring the fabulous architecture of the city, one building at a time - including an 1830 row house, an 1840 Greek revival home, converting a ware house into a downtown loft, restoring a Katrina damaged mid-century modern house, and a craftsman bungalow on the bayou!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
