Welcome to My Home Page
I hope that the following information will be helpful to you in preparing for your experience with Kaiser Permanente and whatever role the anesthesia department may have in your care. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), I am a member of the anesthesia department in the Diablo Service Area. We are a team of professional individuals who offer a variety of anesthesia services. Please use the links available here to learn more about our department , CRNA's as anesthesia providers, and how we might be involved in your care. Our goal is to provide safe quality care during your anesthetic experience and reduce the stress associated with your medical needs.
About Me
I was born in Lynchburg, Virginia and I am proud of my southern heritage. As a child, I always knew that I wanted to work with people. I realized that the healthcare profession would make it possible to accomplish my goal. I pursued a nursing career after I finished high school. After graduation, I worked in a variety of nursing positions. Following a brief time in Virginia, as a physician's office nurse, I moved to the midwest and spent time working in surgical intensive care as a manager in an extended care facility & the operating room (OR). My experience in the OR led to my interest in anesthesia. My mentor, a general surgeon that I worked for, encouraged me to pursue a career as a CRNA and that has become my lifelong passion. After a brief move to Alabama (more southern exposure in an OR setting), I entered Barnes Hospital Anesthesia School in St. Louis, Missouri. Just before this phase of my education, I had my own "most memorable" personal experience with anesthesia,--an epidural for the birth of my daughter. I remember what an impact this had on me and tell my patients that it led to my continuing special interest in obstetrical anesthesia.
After spending almost ten years practicing in the midwest, I moved to Northern California and joined the Kaiser Permanente family. I worked in Vallejo for a year and then transferred to the Diablo Service Area which has been my "home" since 1990. My career with Kaiser Permanente has been rewarding. It has provided me the opportunity to grow as a professional and to join the management team.
When not at work, I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends. I also am involved with community efforts such as the American Heart Association, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Wheelchair Foundation.
My hope is that you will feel embraced by our team and treated like family!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
