Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry Chemical Dependency Services Division at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center. We in Chemical Dependency Services are convinced that addictions and compulsions are treatable. We also know that it is difficult to begin and remain in recovery. We are committed to being available when you are ready to discuss your use to determine whether or not there is a problem. We are also aware of the “relapsing disease” concept and have designed specific techniques to help you through the ups and downs. Please visit my home page to find additional information about me, my practice philosophy, as well as some useful links to resources on Mental Health Information and Web Sites and general health topics.

About Me

Thank you for looking at my home page. I view this page as a nice way to introduce myself to my patients and point my patients to some Internet health care resources that I believe to be reliable.

Recommendations

I believe that attaining and maintaining mental health should be a collaborative process between a patient and physician and/or mental health provider. You are an expert on your own life experiences, symptoms, previous experiences with mental health treatment, and what has worked well for you to maintain your mental health in the past. The professional with whom you work with brings his or her expertise on various forms of mental health treatment, and together you determine the treatment, or combination of treatments that may work best for you.

My Credentials

Education: Psychological Studies Institute, Palo Alto, CA
License: Licensed Psychologist (PSY9888)
Certification: Doctor of Addictions Certificate – National Board of Addiction Examiners
Certification: Certificate of Proficiency in the Treatment of Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders - American Psychological Association

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
