My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a staff Physical Therapist. I work in the outpatient clinic setting in which the emphasis is on rehabilitating musculoskeletal dysfunctions. The patients that I work with have varying diagnoses that are orthopedic to neurological in nature. This field has always been appealing to me because I am able to use my critical thinking skills upon evaluating patients and developing treatment plans. I use a hands-on approach for treatment that allows me to use my manual skills and to develop individualized exercise programs for my patients. I also am an instructor of the back class held here at the Rancho Cordova clinic.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is based on the premise that the patient is capable of managing their symptoms. My job is to instruct the patient and to facilitate the process of the patient becoming independent with their care. The treatment process may entail various modalities, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises and education on techniques for self management.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2003. During this time, I have learned to value the independence that Kaiser has offered me as a clinician. Working at Kaiser has allowed me to sharpen my evaluation skills and to treat with much more efficiency.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

As a clinician, I have learned to appreciate the system that Kaiser offers. I have direct access to Physicians in order to provide optimal communications regarding their patients. I am able to easily access patient records in order to get a more complete history of my patient. Kaiser also offers many educational opportunities in order for me to continually further my education and skills.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

I have been licensed by the Physical Therapy Board of California since 1992.

My Educational and Personal History

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Loyola Marymount University in 1990 and then received a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in 1992. In 1995, I completed a year long manual therapy course from the Folsom Physical Therapy and Training Center. I consistently further my education and skills by partaking in continuing education courses.
