Welcome to my home page and to the Kaiser Permanente Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinic at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center. I hope you will find useful information here about me and my practice philosophy, as well as a link to the Autism Spectrum Disorder Center at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center which has other autism related links.

About Me

I obtained my medical degree from the Universidad De Santiago De Compostela Medicina in Spain where I also completed my first psychiatry training. Since arriving to the USA in 1980 as a postdoctoral fellow in Stanford, I lived and practiced in the Bay Area. I completed my internship at the San Mateo County General Hospital in 1983 and completed my residency in Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University Hospital. I am board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and joined Kaiser Permanente in 1991.

My clinical interests are Autism Spectrum Disorder, Evidence-Based Research for the Treatment of Psychopathology of Children and Adolescents, Interface with Pediatrics, and Early Intervention. My personal interests include traveling and art.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe in early intervention and family and community education. Progress in our field has been the result of a collaborative effort of families, providers and community. I am committed to the development of children’s mental health through evidence-based practices and I am privileged to work with a team at Kaiser Permanente that will integrate research in the clinical practice.

As a Spanish speaking clinician I am committed to the service to the Latino Community.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
