Welcome to My Home Page!

You can use this home page as a way to learn more about me and as a way to access links to online health information. The Department of Physical Therapy has highlighted some specific topics for you in the navigation bar.

About me

I started off with an undergraduate psychology degree from Boston University but after working in group homes for troubled teens for a few years and a two year stint as a waitress at Fat Apple’s in Berkeley, I decided to try physical therapy. I graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of California, San Francisco.

I have always enjoyed helping people and found I was also interested in the science of health. In the past I used to race road and mountain bicycles and did a bit of running, so I have gained some experience in working with knee pain. However, I think I would call myself an orthopedic generalist.

I decided to work for Kaiser Permanente because I would be learning from and sharing information with many other professionals in a large department. Also, I appreciate that Kaiser Permanente emphasizes education, both for the patients and the staff.

I am a pragmatist, so I do whatever works best. As my patient, I will pay attention to your physical complaints, but will also make sure to discuss your job, activities, and any other stresses that may affect you. I feel that the more you understand and take responsibility for your health the better off you will be. So when figuring out a treatment plan, I try to understand not only the injury, but also how to keep you motivated to work toward successful recovery.

When I am not working (and even when I am) I still enjoy bicycling, hiking, swimming, backpacking, gardening, household repairs, and I always have a folded newspaper in my hand. I'm also a member of the Sierra Club, Applachian Mountian Club, and the ASPCA.

My Education and Credentials

Undergraduate Degree BA in Psychology, Boston University, MA
Physical Therapy Education MPT from University of California, San Francisco
Licensure Physical Therapy Board of California
Advanced Training Orthopedic Manual Therapy, Australian Approach, Walnut Creek, CA

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
