My Biography

Kaiser Permanente is a leader as an integrated, efficient healthcare model, and one that jibes with how I believe medicine should be practiced. Because I thrive best in a milieu where patient care is of highest priority, I came to work at Kaiser’s Radiology Department, a collegial environment among sub-specialized imaging experts all dedicated to the care and attention of its patients.

A main focus of mine is in the diagnosis of orthopedic disorders that are a very common source of pain, morbidity and disability for patients. Of particular interest is the use of MR arthrography for the evaluation of internal derangement of the joints.

I also have pursued advanced training in breast imaging and am intrigued by the growing role of breast MRI in screening and staging of breast cancer. Although it can be very challenging to apply a multi-modality approach to the diagnosis of breast cancer through mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, I find it particularly gratifying when I can help patients in its early detection.

My primary passion outside of work is studying and collecting contemporary art, which allows me to explore humanistic issues that are rather complementary to a life in medicine. As a very visual person, when I’m not reading images for work, chances are that you will find me looking at art in a gallery or museum. I also enjoy running along the beautiful San Francisco Bay.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
