My Biography

I'm a Bay Area native born in San Jose and raised in Los Altos. I attended St. Francis High School in Mountain View and received an undergraduate degree in Combined Sciences from Santa Clara University. I completed medical school at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago in 1987. I then returned to the Bay Area to complete my Internal Medicine Residency and Fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara. I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1990. I'm board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.

In 1999, I became Chief of Continuing Care and Medical Director of Home Health at the Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara facility. In 2003, I helped start this facility's Memory Assessment Clinic to assess, diagnose and provide support and resources for patients with cognitive disorders such as Alzheimers.

I currently work on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings in Internal Medicine, where I have a small geriatric practice and see consultations. The rest of the time I work in Continuing Care, where I attend to Kaiser patients in skilled nursing facilities or see patients in our Memory Assessment Clinic.

Since my senior patients are all unique, my practice philosophy is to focus not only on quality of care but quality of life, establishing treatment goals appropriate to the individual. Another unique and enjoyable aspect of my practice is it's "small town" nature. Since both my father and I were raised in the Bay Area, I frequently find myself caring for patients with some connection to my family.

In my free time, I enjoy great food, travel, the outdoors - hiking, biking, relaxing in Tahoe - and spending time with my husband and son with whom I share a passion for baseball.

At Mountain View Health Care, I meet weekly on Wednesday with the therapy and nursing staff to discuss your progress and plan for discharge. I will usually pay you a visit that day to inform you of our discussion. I’m also at the facility on Monday and either Thursday or Friday. I can also be reached Monday–Friday 830 AM – 5 PM through our nurse at (408) 366-4322 or by non-urgent voicemail at (408) 366-4136.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
