Welcome to the Pediatric Department at the Redwood City Medical Center and my home page.

My name is Marcie Bertram and I have been a registered nurse working in the specialty of Maternal Child Health at Kaiser Permanente since 1982. I graduated from nursing school in 1981 and received my Lactation Education from UCLA in 1988. In 1995 I completed requirements to become an International Board Certifed Lactation Consultant.

I love working with all the new families helping them to adjust to their new role as parents. In addition, I enjoy facilitating the various parent groups and classes we offer here at Redwood City. I speak medical Spanish if the new parents prefer this language.

I was born and raised in California. I love all the beautiful sights we have in our immediate Bay Area. On days away from the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family. I love to cook and entertain. When I have time for myself, I try to exercise and catch up with my friends. Our golden retriever also loves our long walks in the hills by my home.

If you would like more information on baby care and breastfeeding, please try the weblinks I have provided on the left hand side of my home page.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
