I am very happy to be a born and raised San Franciscan, and went to college at the University of California, Davis. I finally ventured out of Northern California to attend medical school in Albany, New York. While I learned a lot about medicine and the world while I was away, my time in Upstate New York taught me how special the atmosphere, energy, and people of the Bay Area are. So, it was with great excitement that I returned home for my pediatric residency training right here at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Oakland. After completing my residency, I stayed on for an additional year as Chief Resident before joining the medical staff as a Pediatric Hospital-Based Physician.
As the name implies, as a Hospital-Based Physician I take care of children in the hospital setting only. My time is divided between caring for patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Pediatric Ward. I also work as one of our transport physicians, bringing critically ill children to our PICU from other facilities. The acuity of our patients and the various roles that I take on in the hospital allow me to see and treat a wide array of medical issues and interact with subspecialists from every medical discipline. What I love the most, however, is being able to interact with children, help them to get better, and get them home with their families.
I love working with Kaiser Permanente because it is an integrated system that is physician led. Our electronic medical record system allows us to instantly access every encounter a patient has had within the system. This means clinic visits and subspecialists' notes are available the moment they are created, and when I see a sick child in the hospital I can immediately view all his/her past visits and vital information. Since we are a physician run system, TPMG physicians have the freedom to practice evidence based medicine based on what is in the best interest of the patient; our care is not limited or delayed by insurance company approvals or refusals.
When I'm not at work, you will usually find me at AT&T park watching the San Francisco Giants play, skiing in Lake Tahoe, or out for a run. I also love nature, the outdoors, and birdwatching. I am a volunteer with the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory in the Marin Headlands, a Parks Conservancy program that for more than 25 years has been studying the migration of hawks and falcons right through our own backyard!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
