Welcome to my Home Page!

My name is Jessie Mahoney. I am a physician in the Department of Pediatrics in Daly City, and I take care of children from birth to age 18 in both the clinic and the hospital.

My Credentials

Medical school UC San Francisco, San Francisco, CA
Internship Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Oakland, CA
Residency Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Oakland, CA
Board certification Pediatrics, American Board of Pediatrics

About Me

I have always loved working with children and their families. I went to medical school specifically to become a pediatrician. I believe strongly that children are our most precious resource and that raising happy, healthy, and well-adjusted children is one of our most important responsibilities. I look forward to partnering with you in this challenging endeavor.

I went to medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and completed my residency training at Kaiser in Oakland. I am board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UCSF.

I grew up in Berkeley, and I now live in San Francisco with my husband and three sons - Slade, Owen and Liam ages 10, 6 and almost 1 year old. I am very sympathetic to the challenges of balancing a career and motherhood. I work 3 1/2 days each week so that I can spend time with my children and help out in their schools. My boys love almost all sports, but especially baseball. We spend most of our weekends playing or watching baseball. We also love spending time at the beach boogie boarding and climbing in the dunes.

About my Practice

I want to empower my patients and their families to take care of themselves despite the ever-changing challenges of raising a family in the Bay Area. I encourage parents to be very involved in their children’s lives. I want to work closely with you to help your children be healthy and thrive.

I spend most of my time working in the pediatric clinic in Daly City. I also spend several weeks each year taking care of hospitalized children at San Francisco Kaiser. I enjoy working in the hospital since I feel I can make a tremendous difference to families during a very stressful and important time. Working regularly in the hospital also keeps my knowledge and skills about more serious pediatric illnesses up-to-date. Hopefully, your children will never need to be hospitalized, but if they do they may have the very rare opportunity to have their pediatrician take care of them while they are in the hospital.

I make every effort to see your child for his/her check ups and sick visits but since I work part-time I am sometimes unavailable when your child needs to be seen. To help provide consistency for you and your child, I share a practice with Dr. Dawn Belardinelli. I prefer that you try to schedule appointments with me whenever possible, especially for well visits. If your child needs to be seen urgently when I am not available, however, the call center will try to offer you an appointment with Dr. Belardinelli. Dr. Belardinelli and I have very similar training backgrounds and practice styles. Her home page is www.permanente.net/doctor/belardinelli, if you would like to learn more about her.

To help me take the best care of your child, please come on time for your appointments. At the beginning of your appointment, let my medical assistant know if you have any forms that need to be filled out. Also, let me know early on in your appointment of any specific concerns so I can structure our time efficiently. It is difficult for me to give your children the care they need if you save important issues till the end.
