My Specialty and Why I Chose It
I am a radiation oncologist. When cancer is diagnosed, options primarily revolve around surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. I am the doctor that you will see you if it is determined that radiation therapy would benefit you. Rarely, radiation therapy is given for non-cancerous reasons.
My Practice Philosophy
My practice philosophy is centered on solid communication with you the patient, and the doctors involved with your care. The standards today for cancer care are multidisciplinary, in other words, more than one field of medicine are involved with the treatment.
My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente
I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 2007. One of the primary reasons I work at Kaiser is the relationships I build with my patients. Kaiser Permanente has allowed me to care and treat my patients in the most beneficial way. Another reason I practice at Kaiser Permanente is the availability of the most current technologies to deliver radiation therapy. Radiation oncology is dependent on high technology tools and having this resource at my fingertips is essential.
In addition to practicing external beam radiotherapy, I am one of two physicians in the radiation oncology department that uses radioactive seed implants to treat prostate cancer. This is a very well established treatment for prostate cancer and is also generally known as brachytherapy, depositing radiation internally close by the tumor.
