My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a Nurse Practitioner (NP). This means I am an advanced practice registered nurse and have completed education beyond my nursing degree and also have clinical training in patient diagnosis and treatment. I decided to become a nurse practitioner because I wanted to be more involved in my patients' and families' healthcare needs. Because of my diverse clinical background and training I can directly participate in the diagnosis, treatment, education and preventive care in patients of all ages.

My Qualifications

Master of Science, Nursing University of Phoenix
Family Nurse Practitioner University of Phoenix
Bachelors of Science, Nursing California State University, Sacramento
Public Health Nursing Certificate California State University, Sacramento

Board Certified Adult and Pediatric Advanced Critical Care Life Support Certified

My Practice Philosophy

I believe in preventive health care. I like helping people learn how to care for themselves. I believe in treating my patients as individuals who happen to have medical needs. I hope that after our visit my patients and families feel more knowledgeable about their condition and know that I listened and I addressed their healthcare needs. I believe in a team approach to healthcare which includes communication and compassionate care.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 1997. Over that time I have really come to appreciate the integrated approach to patient and family care.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I chose to work for Kaiser Permanente because I really value the availability of information I can get from my large group of colleagues that help me take better care of my patients and their families. I take advantage of the educational opportunities at Kaiser Permanente because it helps me stay up to date on the most recent medical information. Kaiser Permanente provides me with everything I need to take care of you and your loved ones.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

My medical interests are neurology, neurosurgery, critical care medicine, internal medicine, and family practice.

On a Personal Note

When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, my friends and my two dogs. I like reading, taking long walks and dancing. I also enjoy watching movies, traveling with my husband and capturing the moment by taking pictures.
