About Me
I chose medicine as a career because it fascinated and challenged me more than some of the other settings where speech pathologists work. Also, I love helping people and speech-language pathology can make a big difference in people's lives in their speech, voice, language, cognitive, and swallowing skills. I try to help people improve their functional communication and swallowing skills in ways that are important to them.
I have been a long-time member of Kaiser Permanente and was always impressed by the professionalism and the caring attitude of the staff. It has been helpful to me also, as an employee, to work with other Kaiser Permanente speech-language pathologists all over the Bay Area, sharing our different areas of expertise.
I belong to the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) and their Special Interest Division of Voice Disorders. I also belong to the California Speech, Language, and Hearing Association, and the Medical Speech-Language Pathology Council of California.
On a personal note, I enjoy my family and my grandchildren and I love to travel extensively and boat on the San Francisco bay. I am involved in fund-raising activities for the international organization CARE.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
