How to Use My Home Page...

My Biography

Thank you for looking at my home page. I have lots of great links on the left of the page to sites that many of my patients find helpful. Below, there’s a little bit of information about myself and my practice.

I was born and raised in London and then moved to the Bay Area. I love living and working in San Francisco (except for the foggy summers!).

I enjoy working at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco. I get to see patients, do some research with my colleagues at our Division of Research, and teach UCSF students and residents. My practice is a mixture of pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. I take care of children with hormone problems, and have a special interest in childhood obesity. My clinic has a multidisciplinary approach to diabetes care and I work with a nurse specialist, Marikay Batina, who provides excellent education and support to our patients. I am especially interested in supporting the psychosocial aspects of growing up with a chronic condition.

When I am not at work, I enjoy being a mother to my two wonderful children. I also volunteer at Bearskin Meadow Camp for children and teens with diabetes, and serve on the board of the local Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
